I’m 50. And I’ve just launched a brand new business. Age is just a number.
A couple of months back I launched She Means Business Media – as a way to talk to and about women.
And one of the things we want to do is highlight the stories of women – not just women shattering glass ceilings but all kinds of stories. Stories to inspire, stories that make you relate, stories that make you feel there is a community of other women out there in the same boat as you, stories of challenges and stories of successes.
But I was looking at a creative representation of those stories.
A few birthdays back I clicked a selfie. The skin was glowing, it was a good hair day, and most importantly I was feeling good about myself. It resulted in a good picture – worth framing.
And then I had a quirky idea. I thought I would create a VOGUE magazine cover out of it. So I took a font closest to Vogue, put that selfie on it and had it printed and framed. And now that ‘cover’ hangs in my home office.
A few days back, I wrote a sarcastic post about a leading magazine that put a cover full of men as India’s best CEOs. That post went viral.
These two separate instances collided in my head a few days back.
And that’s when I landed on the idea of the She Means Business Cover.
The launch cover features me. Because I really wanted to tell the backstory of this cover.
A new cover story every Wednesday. Stay tuned.
